What Are the Major Electric Vehicle Benefits?

If you’re considering an EV near Dalton, you already know that EVs don’t have tailpipe emissions and don’t require gas. But there are so many other benefits to electric vehicles. Some of the main perks include:

  • Reduced Maintenance: On average, EVs cost up to 50 percent less to maintain over the course of their lifespan than vehicles with combustion engines. Say goodbye to oil changes and so much more!
  • Near Instant Torque: EVs provide near instantaneous torque, which means that EVs have uncommonly swift acceleration.
  • Quiet Driving: EV motors make a very soft, relaxing, barely audible noise, so you’ll never have to strain to talk over the roar of an engine.

Are EVs Expensive to Maintain?

As we mentioned earlier, EVs cost up to 50% less to maintain than gas-powered models. This is because, unlike models with combustion engines, EVs don’t require:

  • Gasket replacements
  • Cooling system flushes
  • Spark plug replacements
  • Belt replacements
  • Or oil changes!

Are EVs More Reliable?

Because EVs feature far fewer parts, they tend to be a bit more reliable. There are just fewer things that go wrong with an EV. That said, make sure you stay on top of EV charging. Just as with your phone, if you use the EV on a low battery all the time, you’ll lose range and your battery won’t last as long.

Should I Set Up an EV Charging Station at Home?

Yes, EV charging stations have gotten much better. However, it would require quite a bit of time and effort to do all of your charging at public charging stations. We recommend installing a Level 2 charging station at home, so you can make sure you always have a decent amount of juice in your battery and can dramatically cut down on the time you spend charging in public.
