If you’ve been exploring Chevy Silverado cab configurations, then you might already be aware that Double Cab and Crew Cab models can both seat up to five or six passengers, depending on the seating arrangement that you choose for your interior. With that said, those who compare the Silverado Double Cab vs. Crew Cab in detail will notice many differences, too. These two options have different interior dimensions, and they can be paired with different beds. This in-depth guide covers everything you need to know to make the right choice for your Athens and Ooltewah drives.

Silverado Double Cab vs. Crew Cab: Dimensions

What’s the most important difference between the Chevy Silverado Crew Cab and Double Cab? If you ask your passengers, they’ll almost certainly point to the fact that one model offers significantly more rear legroom than the other. If you often travel with adults or taller teens, then the Crew Cab is bound to feel like a better choice.

Compare the interior specs for both Chevy Silverado cab configurations to see exactly what we mean:

Silverado Double Cab Interior Dimensions

  • Headroom: 43.0 inches (1st) / 39.9 inches (2nd)
  • Legroom: 44.5 inches (1st) / 35.2 inches (2nd)
  • Shoulder Room: 66.0 inches (1st) / 64.9 inches (2nd)
  • Hip Room: 61.2 inches (1st) / 60.2 inches (2nd)

Silverado Crew Cab Interior Dimensions

  • Headroom: 43.0 inches (1st) / 40.1 inches (2nd)
  • Legroom: 44.5 inches (1st) / 43.4 inches (2nd)
  • Shoulder Room: 66.0 inches (1st) / 65.2 inches (2nd)
  • Hip Room: 61.2 inches (1st) / 60.2 inches (2nd)

These specs correspond to the 2024 Silverado—but the basic distinctions between the two options remain consistent from year to year.

Silverado Double Cab vs. Crew Cab: Bed Sizes

Crucially, the Silverado Double Cab can only be paired with the Standard Bed, which measures 79.44 inches in length. The Crew Cab, on the other hand, is available with either the Short Bed or the Standard Bed.

You can store a lot more cargo if you choose the Standard Bed: this option offers 71.7 cubic feet of cargo space, compared to 62.9 cubic feet for the Short Bed.

However, there are reasons to choose the Short Bed, too. In fact, if you want to access an off-road-ready trim level like the Trail Boss or the ZR2, you’ll need to choose the Short Bed.

Silverado Double Cab vs. Crew Cab: Towing & Hauling

Your decision between the Double Cab and the Crew Cab will not significantly impact your towing and hauling capabilities. Here are the most relevant specs:

  • Double Cab models, when properly configured, can reach the maximum Silverado 1500 towing capacity of 13,300 pounds. Crew Cab models max out a little bit lower, at 13,200 pounds.
  • The Crew Cab has a slight edge where hauling is concerned: when properly configured, models with this cab can manage up to 2,080 pounds in the truck bed. Double Cab models can handle up to 2,040 pounds.
  • Both Double Cab and Crew Cab models can be optioned with any of the lineup’s available engines.
