Considered a next-generation sports car, the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is ready to hit the road with confidence. The 2018 Ford Mustang is a muscle car that has a legendary heritage. Under the hood, the Chevy model is loaded with high-performance features that aren’t available in the Mustang. The Corvette Stingray also has an all-new infotainment system with mobile-friendly connectivity, including the signature myChevrolet application.
Under the hood, the 2019 Chevy Corvette Stingray has a 6.2 L V8 engine that unleashes up to 460 horsepower. This eight-cylinder powertrain cranks out a maximum torque output of 465 pound-feet at 4,600 RPM. It only takes 3.7 seconds for the direct injection (DI) engine to accelerate the car from rest to 60 MPH. Having an I-4 design with a turbocharger, the 2018 Ford Mustang’s 2.3 L EcoBoost engine has maximum ratings of 310 hp and 350 lb-ft. An upgrade to the 5.0 L Ti-VCT engine lets you enjoy up to 460 hp. However, this V8 engine doesn’t match the torque capabilities of the Corvette’s V8 engine. Even the Mustang’s 5.2 L Flat Crank engine doesn’t produce as much torque as the Chevy’s naturally aspirated powertrain.
The seven-speed manual transmission system gives the 2019 Corvette Stingray tremendous versatility on any track. Featuring the Active Rev Matching technology, this transmission is superior to the 2018 Mustang’s TREMEC manual transmission that has six gear speeds. An eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters is available in the Corvette Stingray. Similarly, the Mustang offers a 10-speed automatic transmission that runs on the SelectShift technology. Standard in this Chevy, the signature Brembo brakes ensure superb stopping power on dry and wet surfaces. Select 2018 Mustang models also offer brakes with this renowned label. The wheels in this Chevy are paired with the Michelin Pilot Super Sport ZT tires that maximize traction. An electronic limited-slip differential gives the axles extra leverage on slippery or rough terrains. Featuring real-time monitors, the Magnetic Ride Control boosts the performance of the Corvette Stingray. This sleek sports car also boasts the Traction Management technology that includes the Driver Mode Selector, Track Mode and other custom settings. Some of the 2018 Mustang’s high-performance highlights include the MagneRide suspension, Launch Control and the Drive Modes.
The multimedia system in the 2019 Corvette Stingray received a major upgrade in terms of connectivity. You can now view 3-D and 2-D maps on the all-new GPS navigation system that’s integrated into an 8.0-inch touch screen. Wi-Fi at 4G LTE speeds is included in the infotainment system, which also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Plugging in other mobile devices should be easy via the USB 3.0 ports. This Chevy sports car is also connected to hundreds of music channels on SiriusXM and HD Radio. The vehicle’s Bose sound system is available with nine or 10 speakers. The 2018 Mustang’s SYNC infotainment system is surely great, but the Corvette Stingray still maintains the upper hand in digital technology.
