Expect the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe to deliver a muscular performance on the road. Its standard 5.3-liter, EcoTec3 V8 engine develops a formidable 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. An available Max Trailering package enables the Tahoe to confidently tow up to 8,600 pounds. Meanwhile, an Active Fuel Management System helps the Tahoe to return a class-leading 23 mpg. For 2018, Chevy has unveiled an exhilarating RST Performance Edition. It is geared towards the folks who desire an extra degree of driving excitement. With a total of 420 horsepower resting under the hood, the RST Performance Edition promises to trigger an instant adrenaline rush. A 10-speed automatic transmission promotes breathtaking acceleration. Not only is the RST Edition quick and powerful, but it also benefits from a sports-tuned Magnetic Ride Control suspension.The standard engine on the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse is a 3.6L V6 that makes a total of 305 horsepower. The engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, something that is becoming quite common in the crossover world. The transmission is very smooth-shifting, and you’ll have no trouble finding the proper gear range. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is an option. If you like turbo power, check out the available Traverse RS with its four-cylinder turbocharged 2.0L engine. It makes 255 horsepower, less than the V6 but with plenty of acceleration capability. Both engines come with the automatic start/stop system for greater fuel savings.
A total of 10 cupholders and up to seven USB ports adorn the cabin on the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. Everything is designed for maximum passenger comfort, making this a great choice for those long-distance road trips. The second-row seating employs the Smart Slide design, and the seat now tips forward even when a child seat is installed. Interior storage compartments have also been redesigned and now include pockets for computer tablets and umbrellas. Standard features include front and rear air conditioning, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, and 60/40 split-folding second- and third-row seats. If you go with one of the uplevel trims, you will enjoy an eight-way power driver’s seat and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Second-row captain’s chairs are also an option.
The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse features the MyLink infotainment technology as well as OnStar and a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. There’s also a new Rear Seat Reminder system that prevents you from accidentally leaving pets or children in the back seating area. A 7-inch screen is standard, but you can choose to add on the navigation system and a larger 8-inch display screen. You can also get a 360-degree camera on the uplevel versions.
Every 2018 Chevrolet Traverse comes with antilock brakes and stability control. Airbags include front-side and side-curtain, and a rearview camera is also included. Uplevel trims offer packages that include blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Rear parking sensors are standard on the uplevel trims. The OnStar package comes with crash notification and emergency roadside assistance. Safety ratings for the 2018 model year are not yet available, but the 2017 Traverse earned a perfect five stars for overall crash protection.
